The Hand of Midas is a volatile slot with Greek mythology from Pragmatic Play that is 5×3 and has 20 ways to win. Wilds add +1, +2 or +3 to the base game's global multiplier, and the bonus round is accompanied by sticky wilds that create an unresettable multiplier. This can lead to payouts of up to 5,000x, which is also the game's maximum win.

The Hand of Midas Slot Overview
When everything you touch turns to gold, it may seem like a gift at first, but it soon turns into a curse when you realize that the gold is not edible. Greek myth contains a lot of wisdom, and that's not a bad theme to create a slot either. Pragmatic has done a good job with the visuals, but The Hand of Midas seems too formulaic.
Don't get us wrong, as a standalone title this is solid stuff. The math model is solid, with a decent RTP and 5,000x potential, and the sticky wild multiplier never gets boring. However, no conventions are challenged here, but you should hardly expect that from every new game. Midas' daughter has already turned to gold on the reels, and now you can see if you have the "golden touch" needed to crack this volatile beast.
Features of the slot
When a wild symbol appears in the base game, a random multiplier of 1, 2 or 3 times your total winnings. Wild symbols, as usual, replace all regular paying symbols and can only appear on reels 2, 3 and 4. If more than one wild symbol appears on a single spin, the random multiplier values are added together to increase your winnings.
The golden scatter in the form of the hand of Midas triggers the bonus round if at least 3 pieces fall on a single spin. After that, mini scatters will appear on the cleared grid, each of which will give you from 1 to 3 free spins. The possible number of free spins is determined by the number of scatters that trigger the feature and works as follows:
- 3 scatter gives from 9 to 27 free spins.
- 4 scatter gives from 12 to 36 free spins.
- 5 scatters give from 15 to 45 free spins.
All wild symbols rolled in the bonus round become "sticky" for the duration of the feature and also increase the multiplier by +1, +2 or +3 at random, just like in the base game. The big difference is that the progressive multiplier is not reset during the free spins round, so it can only stand still or increase.
The bonus round also guarantees a minimum win, and the guaranteed amount depends on the number of scatters triggered. You will always win at least 10x, 20x or 30x your bet if you trigger the feature with 3, 4 or 5 scatters respectively. This means that the bonus round is automatically restarted if you win less than these amounts and there is no other way to restart it.
Impatient non-UK players can take advantage of the buy bonus option. You can choose 3, 4 or 5 guaranteed scatters on your next spin and this will increase your bet by 100x, 200x or 300x respectively. Finally, non-UK players also have the Ante Bet option. This doubles your chances of triggering the bonus round, but will cost you 25 % more per spin.

Results
Pragmatic Play sticks to a tried and tested formula in The Hand of Midas, and it's a well-made game by all accounts. Nothing stands out, however, and you won't find anything new or too exciting here. You might even say that this is the "Midas Curse" of Pragmatic Play. Everything they touch turns into good video slots, which means that good games like this one don't make much of an impression.
Occasional wild multiplier wins keep you afloat in the base game, and things can get really interesting in the bonus round. Volatility is high, so you're sure to have ups and downs, and you should know as well, that the potential is 5,000 times the maximum winnings in the game. This means that the bonus round will end if you break that score, but you probably won't mind too much if it happens anyway.
